The Bakersfield Democratic Town Committee will meet September 26, this Sunday, at 2 p.m., to elect town committee officers — including a new chair — and representatives to the County Committee.
We'll be meeting in the Town Green across from Town Hall. If it rains or it's cold (brrr), we have permission to regroup on the Town Hall porch or inside the building.
Please bring a lawn chair, and wear a mask. The very cautious or vulnerable may plan to be in a socially distanced meeting.
I'm handling the arrangements and the meeting as acting chair.
Changes were made last year in Vermont law to allow for roll call votes (rather than handling paper ballots) should there be more candidates than offices available.
Current Democratic JPs include Patrick Evans, Jan (Ketchum) Marcotte, Brenda Churchill, Arlene O'Rourke, and Sue Tillotson. They remain in office for another year (until the next general election).
Offices available (which currently carry few duties; you get out what you put in) are chair, vice chair, treasurer, and secretary (taking minutes of meetings, helping with internal elections, keeping a list of members). Delegates to the County Committee will also be elected (2 positions).
See you Sunday at 2 p.m.!
