Vermont Studio Center will host a Visiting Artist Talk with Emilie Louise Gossiau. Gossiaux is an interdisciplinary artist who currently lives and works in New York City.

Since losing her vision in 2010, Gossiaux's altered experience of the world has influenced her practice to grow— working with drawings, paintings, sculptures, and installations to represent the other methods in which she experiences vision, such as through dreams, memories, and verbal description. Creating works based on internal imagery, she relies solely on her sense of touch and proprioception to recall the shape and scale, or the weight and physicality of a person, place, or thing in relation to her body. Working through this process, Gossiaux builds emotionally and psychologically resonant spaces that are uncanny, humorous, intimate, and sincere.
