Free Bicycle Mechanics Class
Friday 9/24 5 pm. Richmond Farmer's Market (Volunteer's Green, Richmond)
Free. Sponsored by Richmond Climate Action Committee.
Instructors: Art Herttua and Ian stokes
The Richmond Climate Action Committee is pleased to see so many residents riding bicycles.
For riders who would like to know how to fix a flat out there on the road, and some basic bicycle care, we are offering a free workshop.
Do you know how to do a safety check on your bike or your kid's bike? Would you like to know how to fix a flat tire? Tell when your tire needs air and know how to use one of those bicycle pumps? Are your seat and handlebars the right height? What to do if your chain falls off or your brake pads are rubbing?
Any other questions – bring them with you.
This will be a hands-on workshop.
Bring your bike or wheel, extra tubes, tools if you have them. And your questions.
Please ride your bicycle to the Market if possible, as parking is limited. And plan on having dinner or picking up some bake goods, candles, flowers, or veggies at the Market.
Masks are only required for the unvaccinated.
Art Herttua, VPIRG's bike mechanic, is a retired bike shop owner with forty years experience fixing and building bicycles.
