Stephen Bates Historic Marker Dedication in Vergennes, October 3rd

Come hear the story of Vermont's 1st African American Sheriff elected in 1879 for 23 consecutive years and held office for a total of 25 yrs in Vermont's little City- Vergennes. This past February, Bates name was added to the U.S. Congressional Record and now will be honored with a Historic Marker.
Stephen Bates Dedication to be held in the Vergennes Park, October 3rd at 11am.
Please bring a chair or blanket.
In event of rain, the event will be moved to the Vergennes Opera House, 120 Main St.
