Chittenden Asylum Seekers Assistance Network (CASAN), a local non-profit volunteer group, is now two years old! Over the years we have reached out on Front Porch Forum to ask for your help for community members who are in the legal process of seeking asylum. We are so grateful to all of you who have responded to our posts, joined us as volunteers, and helped with donations.
We would now like to give everyone a brief update on our activities this summer. CASAN has recently been approved as a 501c3 organization - contributions are now tax deductible. We have also expanded our team of volunteers. Most exciting is that we are supporting a new family! CASAN helped this household in the search for housing, collected household goods, and helped them move in to their own apartment, and we now provide continued support as they begin their new life here. We have also assisted numerous other individuals and families by connecting them to resources and other support groups, and with their material needs as well.
To learn more about how you can help in welcoming people who are seeking asylum, come to our next quarterly Zoom update on Wednesday September 29th 7:00pm-8:00pm.
