Lakes and Streams Committee—September 14 Meeting and Invitation
The Calais Lakes and Streams Committee (CLSC) is looking for new members. For two decades the CLSC has been working on a wide range of projects to preserve the lakes and streams of Calais, which has more ponds than any town in Vermont save Woodbury. The CLSC works closely with the Calais Conservation Commission and the Calais Planning Commission, providing advice on town plans, zoning regulations and landowner outreach.
To get a sense of the CLSC's activities, please visit its page on the Town of Calais website:

Our mostly pristine treasures are under negative pressure from exotic invasive species and reduced water quality due to runoff from pollutants. These unwanted outcomes can be prevented or minimized by monitoring and recognizing adverse effects early when they can still be corrected. Some of our lakes have monitoring programs. Most do not.
Help us continue these important programs by joining the CLSC. Our next meeting is Tuesday, September 14, at 6:30PM at the Calais Town Hall. Any questions can be sent to us through the Front Porch Forum link below. We hope to see you tomorrow evening.
