The Friends of Boy Scout Troop 823 will be holding a Calcutta and silent auction Saturday, October 2nd from 3:30 to 6:30 at 14th Star Brewing Company in St. Albans. The money raised will help defray the costs associated with sending Scouts and their families to Washington, DC in December to participate in the annual Wreaths Across America event at Arlington National Cemetery. Each December the Wreaths Across America organization coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,100 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad, with the mission to remember, honor and teach. Troop 823 Scouts have been fundraising for this trip for 2 years through the sale of handmade Christmas wreaths. We will be doing a final fundraising event in October that will include a calcutta and silent auction. Tickets are $125, which includes one ball, dinner for two by the Phoenix House, and two drinks from 14th Star.
