ATTEND RALLY AND IMPORTANT CITY COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY NIGHT
US taxpayers (you and I) give approximately $4 billion a year (over the table) to Israel in "foreign assistance". All but 0.2% was for the military. And what does the Israeli military do with the money? Occupies Palestine. And buy military hardware to occupy Palestine, and occasionally "mow the lawn" in Gaza.
US politicians jump on board this juggernaut for fear of being primaried by AIPAC-supported challengers, and overwhelmed by AIPAC ads. The American-Israeli Political Action Committee is a most powerful, pervasive special interest group in the US, second only to the military-industrial complex, and proceeding hand in hand with it, enabling military manufacturers to test their weapons (on Palestinians) and advertise them as "field tested".
This Monday, Sept 13, the Burlington City Council will vote on a resolution which proposes that
"the City Council of Burlington calls on President Joe Biden to end all military aid to Israel, and calls on the Vermont Legislature and Governor Phil Scott to similarly demand an end to military aid to Israel." The resolution further resolves that "the Burlington City Council strongly supports peace and calling for both Israelis and Palestinians to coexist and peacefully live together."
It is possible that the current City Council can pass such an advisory resolution, and in doing so, it may be the first city in the country to do so. Help support your councilors in passing this resolution.
There will be a rally Monday night at 6PM at the top of Church St. to hear more about the issues, and then a walk to the city hall to be inside by 7:00 to support the hearing and vote.
