Meet the Author: Ecological Memory — Thursday, September 9th at 7 PM
Join author Caroline Ailanthus for a discussion of her novel, Ecological Memory, which deals with individual, societal, and ecological resilience in the aftermath of a catastrophic pandemic. Although the book was written in 2019, when an actual pandemic began months later, she found that her book has suddenly become unexpectedly timely!
This presentation will focus on creating a fictional pandemic vs. living in a real one, as well as looking to the science of ecology as a source of perspective and hope in the face of loss.
Ailanthus is a free-lance writer, blogger, and novelist. Ecological Memory is her second published novel, after To Give a Rose. She has written the Climate in Emergency blog for nearly ten years. Ailanthus grew up in Delaware and attended various small, odd schools, mostly in New England, earning a BA in Environmental Leadership and an MS in Environmental Studies, and now lives in Maryland with her husband and assorted dogs, cats, and house-plants.
