Managing Trails for a Healthy Forest
Whether you're hiking, biking, skiing, or finding another way to travel through the woods, trails are a fantastic way to experience Vermont's forests. Join us for a workshop to learn how recreational trails can be built and maintained to protect forest health, water quality, and wildlife. We will visit examples of trailwork and look at resource mapping on the Jay Community Recreation Centre trails, and discuss ways that you can take action to protect the environment during your own trailwork. This event is geared toward trailbuilders and trail volunteers, and all are welcome. Please come prepared for the weather, and ready to hike for ~2 hrs. Presented by the Jay Community Recreation Centre and NorthWoods Stewardship Center, sponsored by the High Meadows Fund at VCF.
