The Grand Isle Consolidated Water District bond vote is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 20 from 7 am to 7pm at the Fish Hatchery, on Bell Hill Road, Grand Isle. This is a very important vote as the bond is needed to update the water system due to imposed EPA regulations. The board is proposing to add Granular Activiated Carbon filtration to our water line in preferance to adding additional chemicals, ie Chloramine. The GAC filtration will make our water cleaner and bring us into compliance with EPA regulations which we have not been often enough that something HAS to be done. Please take advantage of your civic rights and go vote to make your voice heard. Anyone who lives within the boundaries of the water district and is on the Grand Isle grand list is eligible to vote. If you have any further questions please contact one of the board members or go to the website http://grandislevt.org/waterboard.php to view the GAC Preliminary Engineering Report. You can also view this report at the town clerks office. There was an informational sheet in your last water bill that has the major reasons why the board chose the GAC filtration system versus the adding chloramine one. The most important reason, in my opinion, is that it gives us clean, compliant water without the addition of more, possibly carcinogenic, chemicals. We need to take an interest in what we are putting into our bodies. The GAC system isn't the cheapest system but it will make us compliant with current EPA regulations and put us in a good postion to be compliant with future EPA regulations. Please join me and vote YES for cleaner water this Tuesday.
