On Saturday September 11th (rain date Sunday Sept 12th) the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum will hold its annual Challenge Race at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum – 4472 Basin Harbor Rd. in Vergennes. The Challenge Race is a 3 mile triangular rowing/paddling race across the lake and then back to North Harbor. The course covers some of the most beautiful scenery on Lake Champlain. The race is open to all types of human powered boats-bring your own kayaks, canoes, sliding or fixed seat shells, paddleboats, paddle boards, row boats—whatever you can power yourself!
This event has a $25.00 registration fee per person. Registration begins at 9:00 and the race begins at 11:00. In order to maintain a safe environment for all of our staff and rowers, we are encouraging masks for everyone and requiring masks for unvaccinated participants and attendees for the duration of the event. Our Museum Community Rowers will provide a free lunch buffet for participants following the race.
