Ever wanted to learn how to meditate? Or perhaps you already have meditation practice, and want to practice with others? Come join Karuna Community Meditation, which begins on Sunday, September 12.
• Who: open and welcoming to people of all backgrounds and identifications. Total beginners and experienced meditation practitioners equally welcome.
• What: guided meditation and mindfulness practices in many forms including walking meditation, sitting meditation, practices for increasing awareness of the body, and meditations focused on compassion and lovingkindness.
• When: every Sunday from 10-11AM, beginning September 12
• Where: Jenna's House, 117 St. Johns Road, Johnson. Space is wheelchair-accessible; accommodations can be made for ADA-compliant hearing assist system if requested in advance.
• Why: A regular meditation practice can reduce stress and increase happiness, calm and wellbeing. It can also be a pathway to a fuller life, to deeper spiritual engagement and better ways of being in relationship with other humans, with the hope of liberation for the self and others.
Cost: all sessions are offered freely, with donations accepted
I began practicing meditation 16 years ago, mostly in the Buddhist vipassana/ insight tradition. I'm currently training to become a mindfulness meditation teacher.
Sessions will be inside, with plenty of space to spread out. Unvaccinated people will be required to wear masks; vaccinated people may do as they feel comfortable. Vaccinations are strongly encouraged.
