WVL Celebrates Women Authors

Past event
Sep 4, 2021, 2 to 4 PM

On Saturday, September 4th, the Wells Village Library is hosting a book signing with Deceit author, Diane Sheehan Shovak. Stop by between 2 – 4:00 PM to meet the author, purchase a copy of Deceit, and get your book signed. Attendees can chat with Shovak and fellow readers about fictional main character, Kate Rourke, and her compelling experiences at Lake St. Catherine.

We are very excited to welcome Diane and provide an opportunity for her many readers to engage with her about this locally-based story. Further, readers and aspiring writers who have an interest in publishing will be welcome to ask questions about the process. 🌟We'll offer a drawing for a fun gift basket and serve light refreshments!

In addition to the Shovak event, the library will be featuring artist Robert Birbeck for the entire month of September. His portraits of famous women authors will be on display beginning Saturday, September 4th until Thursday, September 30th. An extraordinary artist, Birbeck is most known for his award-winning wood sculptures, which derived early-on from oil paintings of nudes that he first translated to ceramic. Over the years, he has had studios in both Provincetown, Massachusetts and Wells, Vermont. You won't want to miss this exhibit.

We invite all local women authors who might like their books featured at the library during September to reach out by calling 802.645.0611 or emailing wellslibraryvt@gmail.com. Participants will have their work displayed with famous writers like Virginia Woolf, Mary Shelley, Jane Austen as well as more contemporary names including Ruth Ware, Janet Evanovich and others.

Only have a manuscript? Gina will arrange beta readers for you to garner feedback on your writing – she welcomes both fiction and non-fiction.
