Have you been thinking about going solar? With the 30% federal tax credit slated to expire in 2016, and the price of solar electric (photovoltaic) generated electricity now competitive with utility prices, and the new federal National Climate Assessment yet again pointing out the significant negative impacts of global climate change, now's the time!
Not to mention that there are now financing options that enable you to put no $ down, and pay a fixed amount per month for 15 years that is equal to or less than what you currently pay for electricity per month. I.e., you will pay the same electric bill every month for 15 years while your neighbors' bills rise every year. And at the end of 15 years, your electricity will be free! (Notes: Photovoltaic systems typically last at least 30 years. You will probably need to replace the inverter at some point, but the electricity savings will far outweigh the cost of a new inverter.)
My wife, Barbara, and I are hosting a Solar Open House on Saturday, May 24th, from 10 am - 2 pm. This will be an opportunity to tour our solar systems and to talk with a solar power consultant from RGS Energy (aka Real Goods Solar), one of the largest solar installers in the U.S. RGS Energy installed one of our solar systems and has been installing solar energy systems since 1978.
Here's a link to a flier with more information about the Open House (http://websterpv.pbworks.com/w/file/fetch/79971905/SolarOpenHouse2014.pdf).
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Hope to see you on the 24th! Please RSVP.
