FOLA Features "The Freshman" to Restart Programs on Saturday, August 21

"The Freshman" headlines FOLA's Silent Movie Festival as it reopens its programs in the Heald Auditorium in Ludlow Town Hall on Saturday, August 21 at 7 PM.

The silent movie will feature the outstanding music of Jeff Rapsis as he provides the background sound so typical of that era. Returning to "tickle the ivories" for a short comedy is Glenn Brown.

The Freshman is a 1925 American silent comedy film that tells the story of a college freshman trying to become popular by joining the school football team. It stars Harold Lloyd and remains one of Lloyd's most successful and enduring films.

Harold decides that the best way to ensure his popularity at his new school is to emulate his movie idol, The College Hero, down to mimicking a little jig he does before greeting anyone, and taking his nickname, "Speedy".

However, the College Cad quickly makes him the butt of an ongoing joke, of which the freshman remains blissfully unaware. Harold thinks he is popular, when in fact he is the laughingstock of the whole school.

Everyone is invited to attend this reopening performance. The event is free; donations are appreciated. For information, call 802-228-7239 or https://fola.us/.
