The Craftsbury Chamber Players will present their final Chittenden County concert of the summer on Wednesday, Aug. 18th at 7pm. The program, designed by Music Director Fran Rowell, will include seven short pieces to illustrate the influence of jazz on classical music. These are: Erno Dohananyi's "Marcia: Allegro" from his Serenade in C Op. 10, Jean-Marie Leclair's "Gavotte" from Sonata Op.3, #5 for two violins ((1730), Stravinski's "IV. Gavotta" from "Suite Italienne" for violin and piano, his "Piano-Rag-Music" for solo piano, and "Tango" for solo piano, Scott Joplin's "New Rag" for string quartet (1912), and Astor Piazzola's "Street Tango" for string quartet. The concert will close with Beethoven's "Piano Trio in E-flat Major" Op. 1, No. 1.
The concert will take place out-of-doors at The Parking Field at 500 Cheese Factory Road in So. Burlington (across from Bread and Butter Farm). The concert is free and open to the public. Please bring your own chairs. Donations are warmly accepted. Rain date is for Friday August 20th, same time and place.
