Public Forum on Wind Development in Rural Communities
May 8th at Moretown Town Hall
In an effort to inform and engage citizens and town officials in discussion about environmental and energy issues affecting rural communities, Moretown residents have collaborated with VCE and Friends of Northfield Ridge to organize an informational forum. This will be an open discussion on the impacts of industrial wind energy
development on Moretown and surrounding communities and about
the role of town plans in the regulatory process.
The forum will take place on Thursday, May 8,at 6:30 p.m. at the Moretown Town Hall at 994 Rte.100B in Moretown.
Guest speakers will be Ben Luce PhD., Assistant Professor of Physics and Sustainability Studies, renewable energy advocate
and supporter of wind energy; Andres Torizzo, Principal Hydrologist
of Watershed Consulting Associates; Steve Wright, Former Vermont Commissioner of Fish and Wildlife and long--‐time member of the State Environmental Board; and Annette Smith, Executive Director of
Vermonters for a Clean Environment. The speakers will address and conduct discussion about various topics including: Vermont’s renewable energy resources, town plan language with regard to energy developments, economics, ridgeline protection, wildlife habitat, and hydrology.
The forum is free; all are welcome and encouraged to attend.
