Join VSC for a Virtual Visiting Artist Talk with Julie Weitz.

Weitz will discuss how her work uses humor and ritual to propose ethically-grounded and intersectional reconsiderations of pressing contemporary issues.

In 2017, Weitz created her performative project My Golem, which centers on her embodiment of the mythical creature drawn from Jewish mysticism and Yiddish folklore. A futuristic highly-stylized figure covered with white mud, she was brought to life to respond to contemporary challenges including climate catastrophe, white supremacy, antisemitism, and xenophobia.
