Returning to the Highland Center for the Arts:
In this concert, Caspian Monday Music wanted to showcase music by American composers such, as the New York-based composer, Jessie Montgomery, as well as by composers that were influenced and inspired by American culture.
The program includes the following pieces:
Bernhard Crusell – Divertimento for oboe and strings, Op.9
Bohuslav Martinů – Three Madrigals for Violin and Viola
Jessie Montgomery – Voodoo Dolls for string quartet
Antonin Dvořák: Quintet in E flat major for Strings, Op. 97, “The American”
The all-star cast includes names that are new to Caspian Mondays, but household names in the North-American world of chamber music, including violist Jessica Thompson from Daedallus Quartet; violist Melissa Reardon, artistic director of the Portland Chamber Music Festival, who will be coming to Vermont directly from finishing up the festival in Maine with her husband, cellist Raman Ramakrishnan, and their son, Linus; violinist, violist, and conductor, Sean Wang; violinist, Solomiya Ivakhiv; founding member of the Chiara Quartet, Gregory Beaver; and Igor Leschyshyn, principal oboist of the Kennedy Center.
