Folk Talk - Live from the Underground

Past event
Aug 12, 2021, 7 to 9 PM

The Live from the Underground (LFTU) performance series continues on August 12th with a unique trio of folk musicians from northern Vermont going by the name Folk Talk. The 7pm performance on Thursday will be livestreamed digitally on Bandcamp and followed by an interview with LFTU co-host Jamie Gage.

Folk Talk is comprised of international folk troubadour Rik Palieri, CMA award-winning California songwriter & singer Patti Shannon and local topical Americana songwriter Jason Baker. Together they have joined together to create a high energy show filled with the sound of 6 & 12 string guitars, banjo, harmonica, mandolin and Native American flute on some folk classics while accompanying each other on their original songs.

In part an extension of Rik Palieri's weekly, 1 hour folk music and talk radio show on WBTV-LP, Folk Talk's first album "Folk Talk: A Guide to Traditional Folk Music, Volume One" was released last year comprised of covers of ten classic folk songs including "John Henry" and "Wayfaring Stranger".

Since their album release, their live performances have become known for their fun atmosphere that celebrates folk traditions and encourages audience participation.
