This year we are thrilled to host the 10th Annual Mad Marathon, Mad Half & Relays, in-person, on September 12th, plus a weekend of events. We are now a non-profit and appealing to you today to help us "Fund Our Future" to advance our mission and succeed long-term.It's been a very bumpy road for the Mad Marathon, Mad Half & Relays. As was true for nearly all events and organizations, the sudden COVID-19 related cancellations in the Spring of 2020, and the subsequent loss of our registration and sponsorship-based revenue stream demonstrated how vulnerable to financial disaster we were. It took a near fatal toll on our beloved races. Fortunately, a group of community leaders, runners and friends of the Mad Marathon stepped in to form a new 501(c)(3) tax exempt Vermont Nonprofit Corporation (Mad Valley Sports) that will expertly operate the races going forward. Dori Ingalls will be engaged as Race Director and charged with building the new organization for the next 5 years. Unlike its predecessor, as a nonprofit organization, Mad Valley Sports is operated for the public good and can tap into a wide variety of funding opportunities including offering tax advantages to our donors and sponsors and seeking grants from foundations. Please consider making a gift to help ensure that the "World's Most Beautiful Marathon", these very special races, featuring spectacular Vermont views of the Green Mountains, covered bridges, the friendly cheering crowds, and the cows will both survive and thrive.
We are told by the State that the event brings in well over $1Million to the community every year. Our goal is to raise $65,000. Yes, this goal feels like a marathon, and yes, it starts with one step. Consider underwriting just one mile of the Marathon for $2000, or Mile 1 at $3000, Mile 26 at $3,000, and the Finish Line at $6,000. If we receive $2000 per day between now and September 12, we will have met our goal, and the 10th Mad Marathon can begin with a solid financial foundation.
