The Newbury Historical Society is enormously pleased to announce a presentation and tour of the the first girls' camp in the United States, Newbury's very own Camp Farwell on Halls Pond. The camp's present owners and directors, Bob, Charyl, and Marley Hanson, are generously inviting visitors to Camp Farwell for a free presentation and tour on Saturday, August 21st at 1:00 PM.
Reservations are required. No one will be permitted to attend without a reservation, and reservations will be limited to the first 25 people who request one. To ensure a spot, call Aroline Putnam at 802-429-2402 or email her at:

Please note that all attendees must be fully vaccinated and come wearing a mask.
Camp Farwell is located at 21 Camp Farwell Drive in Newbury. Visitors are asked to park either at the Veterans Park or across from the Halls Pond boat launch and walk or carpool to Camp Farwell. The camp cannot accommodate parking for all attendees.

✷ Looking ahead, the Historical Society's annual meeting will be held on Thursday, September 16th at 4:00pm in the West Newbury Schoolhouse. All are invited to attend. And then on Sunday, October 17th, Justin Squizzero will be giving a tour of the historic Burroughs-Hebb-McClintock farmhouse on Peach Brook Road and demonstrating the traditional-style weaving that he is a master of. More details will be forthcoming as we move into fall.
