Guilford Conservation Commission Walk

Hello All,

The GCC is hosting a walk on Sunday, August 15th at 9:30 AM. We will be walking from the top of Cemetery Hill in Guilford Center to Bullock Drive. It is not an arduous walk about 1.5 miles round trip with a gradual uphill and downhill section midway on the road. There are many spectacular old maples lining the old road along with ash and hophornbeam. There is a surprise sculpture along the way---see if you can find it! If you want to extend the walk there are two options: Continue on Bullock Drive to Bullock Road ending at Weatherhead Hollow Road or the top of Cemetery Hill go south towards Locust Hill Road or (further) to Borkowski Road. The parking is limited so please carpool when you can. There is parking at the library and at the Playscape. If you are driving to Cemetery Hill there is a bit of parking at the historic cemetery and also at the top of the road. Historic notes: the original meeting house was situated near the cemetery ( established in 1796) and moved down hill in 1837. There was also a Whipping Post where punishment was meted out until about 1837.

Bring insect repellent.

Hope to see you on the 15th.
