The Champlain Valley Suffrage Auto Tour visits Lake Champlain Maritime Museum!
On August 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Champlain Valley Suffrage Centennial Auto Tour will be at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum as they celebrate the centennial of women winning the right the vote. In the early 1900s, suffragists would use cars and other methods of transportation to travel around the Champlain Valley to hold public events and speeches to raise awareness and support for women's suffrage. Their automobiles would be decorated with banners and signs. To mark the centennial of women winning the right to vote, our friends with the Champlain Valley Suffrage Centennial are holding an auto tour this year and will be traveling to historic sites around the region with antique automobiles, special on site events or exhibits, and historic interpreters to bring history to life.
Come by the Museum to learn about the importance of women's suffrage in our region, peek at some vintage cars, and explore our exhibits relating to women's suffrage! Featured exhibits include Women's VOTE Centennial, Women at the Helm, and The Noble Failure: Prohibition in the Champlain Valley. Museum admission is free for all visitors. For parking and exhibit information, go to www.lcmm.org/Visit.
