The Holland Memorial Award is given in honor of Doug Holland, a former Essex Junction resident who worked tirelessly, including during a serious illness, to help establish the Essex Teen Center. Nominees for the award exhibit extraordinary belief in and respect for youth. They persistently worked to establish an important service or goal for and with youth. Nominees can be either youth or adults.
Giraffe Awards are given to adults and youth who have “stuck their necks out” for youth to raise awareness or make a difference in the lives of local youth.
The Ray Coffey Award is given in honor of Raymond Coffey, who worked first as the Essex Teen Center Coordinator, then as Executive Director for a total of nine years at Essex CHIPS. The organization’s growth and continuity in serving and empowering youth is largely due to his leadership and dedication to serving the community. This award recognizes dynamic youth leaders who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to community improvement.
