413 Carpenter Road
Charlotte

The show is directed, choreographed, and produced by Schuÿler Edgar Holmes (18), a 2020 CVU graduate and a sophomore theatre major at Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec, and supported by the B.E.S.T. (Bishop's Exceptional Student Talent) Project Fund - a grant intended to assist students to determine their career paths and realize their ambitions. The cast includes a select group of veteran musical performers who have shared many stages in local productions over the years.
Inspired by, and poking fun at, the campy cult film starring Olivia Newton John and featuring music by Electric Light Orchestra, Xanadu follows Clio, a Greek muse sent to Venice Beach, California in 1980 to inspire Sonny Malone, a struggling chalk muralist. Should she succeed in this quest, Zeus will grant her Xanadu, "the gift so grand no one truly knows what it is." With both help and hindrance from the other muses, and a clarinetist turned real estate mogul, Danny Maguire, Sonny and Clio work to rebuild their "apex of the arts:" a roller disco.
