Junior Naturalist Program: Azban the Trickster Raccoon

Past event
Jul 28, 2021, 10 AM

On Wednesday, July 28th at 10:00 our regular morning Story Time will include a visit from Stacey Waterman of Lamoille County Nature Center for a Junior Naturalist Program.

The Summer Reading theme "Tails and Tales" will be highlighted through that common Vermont animal with a bushy ringed tail...the raccoon!
Tales of Azban, the trickster raccoon of Abenaki traditional stories

In this program we will learn about Azban, the mischievous trickster raccoon of Abenaki animal tales. We will read a story from Vermont author Brian Chenevert's book "Azban's Great Journey" and learn more about the real raccoons that are our fascinating wildlife neighbors. Then we'll see how good we are at being raccoons with a game of "Follow the Biologist" and stretch our wildlife knowledge with a round of "Whose Tail is it Anyway?"

FREE, FUN, INFORMATIVE AND INTERACTIVE!
We hope you'll join us on the Library lawn for this great program.

Also: Don't forget about our Summer Reading BINGO! Instead of the traditional setting of summer reading goals, we've challenged young readers with a BINGO game. One is for pre-readers who can work on the BINGO as a family. The other is for independent readers. Every child/family who participates by checking off even one of the BINGO boxes will get a prize, and for every BINGO you get, (up to 10 chances) you can enter a drawing for a chance to win big prizes...such as a FREE ticket to stream Lamoille County Players' "Annie" in August.
There is still lots of time. Prizes will be drawn on August 18th and entries are due by the 15th.
Need a BINGO card? Stop by the Library or print one from our website: https://www.lanpherlibrary.org/childrens-corner.html
