Gospel Hollow Edible Park - Work/Visit Day

Have you ever heard of the Gospel Hollow Edible Park (GHEP)?

Have you ever noticed the fruit and nut trees growing in the field behind the Calais Town Hall?

Now is your chance to check them both out! The GHEP was created several years ago by a small group of Calais Residents with the assistance of a community sustainability grant from the Hunger Mountain Coop. Over the years we've planted a wide variety of fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, herbs, flowers, and more, with the goal of creating welcoming green space and free food for all. The park is available for anyone to work in and anyone to harvest produce from. That said, we recommend your first experience with the park to include a tour from one of our volunteers or a visit on one of our work days.

We'll be hosting a park work day this Saturday, 7/24 at 10 am - we're usually there for about two hours. This week we plan to do some weeding & mulching, remove some no longer necessary deer fencing, and likely harvest some blueberries & black currents. We'd love for you to stop by, learn about our project, and lend a hand!

See you in the garden,
Jamie & the rest of the GHEP crew
