Webinar: Aquatic Invasive Species in Lake Champlain!

Past event
Jul 28, 2021, 7 to 8 PM

Grand Isle County Natural Resources Conservation District invites you to spend the evening with us and hear from featured speakers with the Lake Champlain Basin Program, Matthew Vaughan and Meg Modley.

Together, we hope to foster a deeper understanding of issues plaguing the lake, challenges ahead, and work that will continue long after the webinar concludes.

Vaughan, the LCBP's Technical Coordinator, will open with a short presentation on the newly released Lake Champlain: State of the Lake & Ecosystem Indicators Report 2021. Released every three years, the report provides the public and resource managers with a look at threats to water quality and the opportunities to meet the challenges ahead.

Next, we will take a deep dive into one of the lake's greatest threats: aquatic invasive species. Modley, the LCBP Aquatic Invasive Species Management Coordinator, will explore the history of AIS in Lake Champlain, how our activities on land impact their spread, the tools we can use to combat them, and what may be coming our way.

As local partners and community members, we are the first line of defense in protecting the integrity of Lake Champlain for all species - and keeping it drinkable, fishable, and swimmable for generations to come. We will leave plenty of time for discussion during a Q&A session. We hope to see you there!
