Past event
May 21, 2014

On Wednesday, May 21st, the Burlington-based Puppets in Education professional puppet troupe will work with all classes at the Berlin Elementary School as a result of a generous donation by Cody Chevrolet. The programs and performances will feature cultural diversity, anti-bullying and school safety. A bullying prevention workshop with grades five and six will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last 75 minutes. The same workshop will be done with grades three and four beginning at 11:00. A bullying prevention and cultural diversity workshop for grades one and two will begin at 12:45. A 30-minute skit on bullying prevention for kindergarteners and pre-K students will begin at 2:00. Families and the community are encouraged to attend. There is no cost to participate.

Puppets in Education's anti-bullying and school safety workshops help students define physical and social bullying behavior, discusses strategies for reporting problems, defines the role of a caring bystander, offers techniques to stop or diffuse a bullying situation and underscores the importance of supportive adult systems. The cultural diversity workshops support students with respecting differences such as culture, belief systems, and ethnicity. The group uses life-sized puppets during their performances and workshops.
