Al Johnson-Kurts is a facilitator, organizer, and communications specialist from Central Vermont. They attended U-32 High School and hold a B.A. in Economics and Environmental Science & Policy from Smith College. Al currently works as Communications Director for Change The Story VT, a multi-year initiative to align philanthropy, policy and program to fast-track women's economic well-being in Vermont. Three core partners – the Vermont Women's Fund, Vermont Commission Women, and Vermont Works for Women fuel the work.
We discuss the economic status of women in Vermont, efforts to achieve pay equity and to engage the business community to achieve gender equity. Al describes the Pay Equity Compact and the tool kit business owners can use to move their wage and salary scales toward greater economic justice.
