Neighbors,
The City Council will be meeting in person in Contois Auditorium on Monday, July 12, 2021, starting at 6:30. This is the first in person meeting since COVID. Due to some technical issues, this meeting will not be on Zoom but may be viewed on Channel 17 or via youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLljLFn4BZd2PwCge7lNoKug676jIf_iUA
Our meeting will begin with a work session on regulation of short term rentals. The regular meeting will begin at 7:30 with proposed items on extending two entertainment permits and one special event permit. The deliberative agenda includes: (a) a communication on the approval of the Water Resources Approval Program policies for Water Resources rebates and the temporary waiver of water and wastewater fixed meter charges for low-income, non-profit affordable and senior housing customers; (b) a communication on the consolidated collection study which is an initiative the City has been looking into for some time and would consolidate trash, recycling and compost pickup for residents. DPW has put forth, via Front Porch Forum, the detailed study, costs and budget for this initiative along with several approaches. DPW's recommendation is to move forward with a hybrid collection model where the City continues to pick up recycling and franchised haulers collect trash and organics following a bidding process run by the City. The Transportation, Energy and Utilities Committee of the Council voted 2-1 against this proposal, opting for a fully municipal consolidated collection system. We are not voting on this Monday. This is a communication and opportunity for councilors to get information and ask questions; (c) four resolutions calling for a review of sex worker City Charter and Ordinances, a resolution proposing divestment from weapons manufacturers, a bikeways, parking and an intersection safety scoping study on Colchester Avenue, and to create a dog task force.
Following consideration of these agenda items, we are expected to into executive sessions to address a personnel matter and receive an update on the CityPlace/Redstone mediation that occurred last week.
Additional information on these items can be found at http://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public
