Child/Teen Bible Class

Past event

Jon and I are thinking of offering a teaching a Bible class in our home for children and teenagers. Jon and I will alternate teaching and sometimes co-teach. The class would begin in two to three weeks (along with school) and the first session would run for 12 weeks and cover the beginning of the Old Testament. The tentative day is Wednesday afternoons either immediately after school OR from 4:00-5:30. (Students will need permission to walk as a group from the bus stop at Grants or MSES to our house at 18 West)

We will be using the curriculum found here www.grapevinestudies.com along with the Bible. This curriculum allows students to learn through art expression, drawing representative stick figures then adding their own flair and detail. This curriculum also allows for multi age level studying. While studying the same thing, we will all be working in different ways with emphasis as follows: (higher levels will have the expectations of lower levels as well as their own)
Level 1: building interest in the Bible, learning facts, exploring maps, following directions, tracing.
Level 2: Memory work. Committing to memory Biblical facts and figures, books of the Old Testament and key verses.
Level 3: Learning Biblical chronology and being able to independently draw a timeline of events in the Bible, Exploring basic Biblical geography and comparing with current maps.
Level 4: Equipping students to study the Bible independently. Students will use a Bible Concordance, Topical Bible and Bible dictionary with each lesson.

Please note that this is an instructional class with learning expectations. Students will be assessed for memory retention and encouraged/rewarded for hard work. You should expect to see an immediate increase in their Bible knowledge. Students should have a desire to learn and come to class each week prepared to do so. Attendance is essential and classes should only be missed due to emergency or illness. There will be no written homework, but studying during he week is encouraged and expected.

The twelve week course will have a one time fee of $35. This will include a student workbook, markers and writing supplies, any additional supplies for crafts, memory cards, etc, and instruction. If all goes well, we hope to continue into the old testament with three more 12 week units from the Old Testament. (48 weeks total). Each additional 12 week course will only be $13 to cover the next workbook.

Family discounts can be discussed and funding for scholarships might be possible if needed. Please let me know if that is something you would like for me to explore.

We are looking for interest level and deciding which time works best for the community. So please call 235-1249 or email if you would like to enroll a student. I will need:
*names, ages, grade entering
*your preference of time 3-4:30 or 4:00-5:30 or No Preference (students would need to be picked up promptly, so if work tends to run late for you they can stay after school then class from 4-5:30)
*contact information

We would like at least 10 students to begin class. 15 is the max we can take, so sign up qick if it is something you would really like to do. Please feel free to call us with any questions 235-1249.

Thank you! Jon and Jody Dickerson
