On Saturday, July 10, hikers will meet at the Dorset Historical Society at 9 a.m. to carpool to the trailhead to begin their ascent to the Folsom Quarry. DHS Curator Jon Mathewson will lead the hike, which will last about two hours.
Between 1 and 3 p.m., the Dorset Village Library is hosting its 7th Dog Days event, with furry critters entitled to a piece of Milla's Gotcha Day cake. Dog owners can have a hamburger or hotdog. The library's special guest this year is Magician Ed Popielarczyk who will be performing wandering magic and will have a very exciting magic show at 1:30 p.m. The library's July artist Jessica Smith will also be available to talk about her art. ShireKids VT will have some books, and kids' summer reading packets are ready to be picked up.
Across the road from the library, the Dorset Historical Society is hosting its annual Ice Cream Social from 1 to 3 p.m., with everyone welcome to a free Wilcox ice cream serving. Visitors can also see the newest DHS exhibits, including the Dorset women who first voted in 1920, a collection of paintings and memorabilia of the late Dorset artist Arthur Jones, and much more.
