As you may know, the students of LiHigh School are opening a locavore restaurant in the historic station on Main Street, and now we're proud to announce that Localmotive will be opening this Monday at 3:30pm!
Our menu, designed by our chef and prepared by our students, includes Fire Roasted Tomato & Red Pepper Soup and Curried Butternut Squash Soup, and entrees such as Green Mountain Jambalaya, Root Vegetable Ragout, Chicken or Cheese Enchiladas, and Snobby Joes (a vegan version of Sloppy Joes), not to mention a weekly special. This week's special is a Chicken & Sausage Gumbo.
Because we want to start small and give our students the opportunity to become comfortable not only preparing high quality cuisine but also managing and operating a restaurant, entrees will be pre-cooked and served cold, for our customers to reheat and enjoy at home (our menu items were actually designed to IMPROVE their flavor thanks to this process).
If you're a working parent who's always in a rush to get home and get the family fed, now you have the opportunity to purchase high quality, locally sourced meals at more than fair prices.
Our hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 3:30 - 6:30pm, so just come on by. And if you mention that you read about us in the Front Porch Forum, we'll even give you a 5% discount on your meal (opening week only)!
For more information, please visit Localmotive's student-designed and student-written website, http://www.lihigh-localmotive.org.
And for a free taste of our students' great cooking, be sure to stop by the school on Saturday, 5/3, from 2pm to 5pm, where we'll be giving out free food in support of Poultney2020's Green Up Events. You can find us right on Main Street, located in the historic train station. We hope to see you there!
