Invasive Wild Chervil in Guilford
Please join us for a "Pull Party", Thursday, June 10, 5-6pm, Sweet Pond Road
The Conservation Commission has noticed several new patches of invasive Wild Chervil along Sweet Pond and Weatherhead Hollow Roads. This plant is listed on Vermont Invasives "Watch List" because it spreads quickly by seed and competes with native plants.
The plant is currently flowering and easy to identify. We removed one large patch near the Sweet Pond boat launch on Sunday and learned that it easy to pull up and discard before the seeds form.
We will meet again on Thursday (June 10) from 5-6 pm to work on other patches. If you would like to learn how to identify wild chervil and help pull some plants along our roadsides, you are most welcome to join us. Please meet us at 3535 Sweet Pond Road, south of the State Park. Wear long pants, tick repellent, a long-sleeve shirt, and long gloves to protect your skin. Bring a small shovel to help loosen the roots. We will have collecting bags.
