Here's a brief report back from this week's meeting and the venue and time for the next.

About 20 community members attended the rendez-vous this week, representing a variety of gardens, households and organizations. We decided to meet again in one week to clarify goals for this year. This is an open group so spread the word.
Brief synopsis:
*go around- introductions
*Barre Food First! overview (from 2010-2011) with Joseph Kiefer
*concentrate efforts this growing season - what is already going on? who is ready to participate? what is our purpose? what are our goals? what resources are readily available?
*Metro Way update - seeking central space to relocate cob shed, new location for most plots (Granite Museum?), keeping 20' green strip at Metro Way to protect river
*Proposal by Mayor Lauzon to launch "food growing challenge - goal of 50 raised beds" throughout the city to increase food security in Barre, help transition Metro Way garden plots to new locations, and expand opportunities for people who want to grow their own fresh food.
*involve different public and private lawns as organic food garden hosts - unified neighborhood initiatives
*Mondays late May-October the Good Food Good Medicine education team at Green Acres Housing and Highgate Apartments community gardens, potential for greater public to join GFGM nutrition, food growing, preservation and herbal remedy making activities. GFGM seasonal cookbooks also available
*Gardeners column in Times Argus during growing season - positive press
*Complement Barre Farmer's Market and/or Concerts in Courier Park with demo table
*Iiability insurance available from American Community Garden Association
