Abby Sherman and the Way North - LFTU

Past event
Jun 3, 2021, 7 to 9 PM

The Live from the Underground (LFTU) performance series continues this Thursday with the blues-rock band Abby Sherman and The Way North. The 7pm performance on Thursday, June 3rd will be livestreamed digitally on Facebook and followed by an interview with LFTU co-host Jim Yeager.

Based out of Lamoille County in north-central Vermont, Abby Sherman and The Way North links up five of the area's most iconic players to give you a truly unique performance infused with some of the most iconic soul and blues you can find in the state.

Following on the heels of her more folk-country albums Finding Hope (2018) and So It Goes (2019), Sherman and TWN released a live album from Robot Dog Studios last year that captured the soul-tinged edge of their live performances and received rave reviews.

"Throughout the album, Sherman burns with the fiery indignation of a jilted lover. In lesser hands, this could easily become a trope, but Sherman's powerhouse voice elevates her music above cliché," wrote Chris Farnsworth last year in Seven Days. "The raw emotion and hints of grit and darkness that suffuse her melodies belie banality. Sherman's fervent belting is believable."

Thursday's performance will be a ticketed event with 50% of the proceeds going to the artist and 10% to Chandler Center for the Arts. Visit https://theundergroundvt.bandcamp.com/merch/abby-sherman-and-the-way-north-live to purchase a ticket!
