Tomorrow, June 2nd, there will be a Public Hearing on Zoom from 6-8pm to discuss the proposed changes to the bylaws governing Greensboro's Shoreland District.
As a year round Shoreland area resident, I oppose these changes by and large, as do many other residents I have spoken to. Please hop on to zoom and make your voices heard - even sparing ten minutes is better than nothing.
Even if you don't live in the Shoreland area, please consider these changes and make your voice heard. We all must work together to respect private property and allow families to live in Greensboro, Vermont, without undue hardship and bureaucracy.
Please attend the Public Hearing on June 2, raise your hand and ask,
-- "What problem are these changes solving?"
-- "What complaints are on record, or what data is there from Vermont environmental officers to necessitate additional restrictions?"
-- "If Shoreland issues are already regulated by the state of Vermont -- such as current amount of tree cutting, square footage of a dock, height of a boat house, or setback from the shoreline -- why does Greensboro specifically need more stringent restrictions?"

For detailed objections to the proposed changes, see pages 12-15:

(Please note the writer of these comments has NEVER received a response from the town regarding his detailed and articulate objections.)
For an outline of changes, see pages 4-5 of this THIRTY ONE PAGE DOCUMENT:

It took me several hours to find the documents on the town website and understand the proposed changes. Hopefully this will help my neighbors understand the bureaucratic and unnecessary changes proposed, and save them a little time!
Best,
Heidi Lauren Duke
