Visit the Bennington Community Garden this Saturday, June 5 between 10 AM and noon for family fun in the garden!
The day begins at 10:00 am with a workshop for new and newish gardeners by area UVM Master Gardeners. Free vegetable starts from Clear Brook Farm including a mix of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, broccoli squash, and mixed herbs along with bean and carrot seeds are available to those who register. Several garden plots are also available to those wanting a gardening space. This is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Bennington Rotary Club.
Beginning at 10:30, Bennington Area Makers and UVM will be giving away pollinator plants including marigolds, nasturtiums, sunflowers, and zinnias courtesy of Clear Brook Farm.
This is a family event and there is plenty for kids to do and see! From 10:00 – 11:30 AM, Bennington 4-H will be hosting a range of crafting activities for children of all ages. This will include wired, electronic "bee bots" and simple puppets. Jeanne Davis will be on hand from 10:00 – 11:00 with her traveling beehive for a close-up look at the fascinating work of honey bees. HeadStart will be providing delicious fruit snacks for those in attendance.
Pre-registration for these activities is requested either through the BAM FB page https://fb.me/e/6hW9LjcF2 or by calling Marsh or Cindy Hudson-Knapp at 802-440-5190.
