The American Legion will hold their traditional ceremony in Hope Cemetery [behind the Congregational Church at 8 N. Main St in the village.
It will be followed by the cemetery walk featuring 3 boundary-breaking people at the turn of the 19th century: Charles Daggs and Lorenzo Bryant, two black Freedmen who came to Waterbury about the time of the Civil War--why? how?
Elizabeth Colley was care taker, principal and teacher for 20 years at the Green Mountain Seminary. She also ran the lodge next door. During her "spare" time she worked tirelessly to gain the right for women to vote.
