Lecture on "The Great Fire of 1895" at the Museum

Past event
May 8, 2014, 7 PM

Learn more about the history of the Great Fire of 1895 with Lazarus Scangas as part of the Local History Lecture Series at the St. Albans Historical Society & Museum (9 Church St), on Thursday, May 8 at 7pm.

Most area residents know something of the fire of May 1895, which wiped out a quarter of downtown St. Albans. There were others, both before and after, that many may not know about. Our community was plagued by a series of fires in the second half of the 19th century. While these disasters were devastating, the process of rebuilding which occurred afterwards resulted in the St. Albans that exists today.

FREE for members and open to the public by donation. Light refreshments will be provided.

Please note: This presentation is re-scheduled from previously announced dates in February and March due to weather.
