Low-Challenge Yoga: One-Time Class

Past event
Jun 3, 2021, 3 PM

This class will be offered by the Waterbury Library via Zoom on Thursday June 3rd at 3:00 PM. It will be recorded, so you will be able to use it to practice going forward. It is intended for those who want a little bit of a challenge as they either try yoga for the first time, or get back into it after being away for a while. Register on the Waterbury library website in the chair yoga section under adult programs, we will use the same Zoom session as the chair yoga class.

Recommendations for this class:
• Wear clothing that allows you to move but is not so loose that it will get in the way.
• Get a yoga mat and put it on a hard surface, not a cushy carpet. See if you can borrow a mat, just be sure that it is relatively thin. It is hard to do yoga on a thick mat designed for other types of workouts.
• If you are over 50 and have never done yoga before, you will need a block. Try to borrow one of these if you can, or make a reasonable facsimile by taking 3 old VCR tapes in their boxes and taping them together with packing tape.
• You can buy "beginner yoga kits" from Amazon, but see if you can hold off on such a purchase until you know whether you want to continue practicing yoga. You can also get these kits from Walmart, but they are quite a bit more expensive than the ones on Amazon.
