Join Angie Thomas, the author of five acclaimed books, in a free Zoom presentation for Vermont Reads 2020. Her bestselling debut novel, The Hate U Give, won multiple national and international awards. Vermont Reads has introduced the book to thousands of Vermonters of all ages, who engaged with Thomas' YA novel through a variety of community activities.

We are excited to learn more about Angie Thomas' work, her creative process, and what it means to be one of the most influential American writers today.

Angie's second novel, On the Come Up, is a #1 New York Times bestseller as well, and a film is in development with Paramount Pictures with Angie acting as a producer. In 2020, Angie released Find Your Voice: A Guided Journal to Writing Your Truth as a tool to help aspiring writers tell their stories. In 2021, Angie returned to the world of Garden Heights with Concrete Rose, a prequel to The Hate U Give focused on seventeen-year-old Maverick Carter that debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

This evening event (and a related event for Vermont schools the following day) is sponsored in partnership with Vermont Department of Libraries with funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Partnerships for Literacy and Learning, Vermont Library Association and the Vermont School Library Association.
