Chittenden Asylum Seekers Assistance Network (CASAN)

Did you know that there is a grassroots non-profit group of volunteers in Chittenden County that assists local families who are in the legal process of seeking asylum in our country? Asylum seekers, unlike refugees, are not allowed to receive many kinds of government assistance, nor are they are allowed to work until reaching a certain point in the application process, and so CASAN has fully supported one family for all living expenses. The mom is now nearing financial independence, and so we are looking to sponsor another household! In addition, over the past two years our group has assisted four other families in significant ways, and has impacted the lives of other households through our network with similar groups statewide.

Come to hear inspiring stories of people who are building new lives in our community. Learn practical and tangible ways that you can help welcome people who are seeking asylum, one family at a time.
