“Using Obituaries & City Directories in Genealogy Research" with Lynn Johnson

Obituaries and city directories can be key to answering some of your vexing genealogy questions. Even wedding notices and other random articles can be helpful. All of these resources can add details to help you learn more about your ancestor beyond the bare bones dates that we so diligently search out. Lynn will demonstrate the value of using these resources, cautionary information, and some information on sources.

New Online Database
The Vermont Genealogy Library has now added BritishOrigins.net to its list of subscription databases available free on our library computers. This subscription includes marriage & burial records, census data, court records and The National Wills Index. This latter collection includes over 4 million entries for wills and probate records in England.
This is our 6th subscription - the others are:

• AmericanAncestors.org (Early New England)
• America’s Civil War Database (all Union & Confederate soldiers & sailors)
• Ancestry.com (World Edition)
• Irish Origins
• LaFrance (Quebec)

We hope you can join us for this week’s presentation and then check out our newest books and all of our online databases.
