CIGARETTE FILTER COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP - DERBY
Saturday, May 22, 10am-12pm. Meet at the Derby Town Office!
Join Umbrella and the NEK Waste Management District for a Community Clean-Up focusing on the most littered item in the world - Cigarette Filters! Volunteers will recieve gloves, bags, and trash pickers to clean-up filters on the town's sidewalks and public spaces. Volunteers also will get some gifts for helping out - like a water bottle and canvas tote bag!
Did you know that cigarette filters are 95% plastic and do not break down? They simply break into smaller and smaller microplastics. The same toxic chemicals that make cigarettes so bad for our health also pose a risk to the health of our environment, including waterways and wildlife.
