The Healthy Roots Collaborative is looking for folks who want to lend a hand with an exciting project at a local farm. For the last two years West Farm has generously donated space where we grow for donation to local food shelves. This year we will also be growing Abenaki Land Link crops, which will go to the Missisquoi Abenaki Nation and food shelf in Swanton, as well as some culturally preferred veggies for the migrant farm worker community in Franklin and Grand Isle counties. Tomorrow afternoon we will kick off the season by picking rocks from the stony (but very fertile soil) at the West Farm donation plot. Many hands make light work so come join the effort and help grow for our community! This is my favorite places to spend an hour or two picking rocks while looking up at the chin of Mount Mansfield periodically! There will be other volunteer opportunities throughout the growing season as well.
You can respond to the post to attend or email healthyrootsgleans@gmail.com.
Thanks! Peter
