Subject: Caves and Cave Exploration in Vermont
"Always have 3 sources of light" "Never cave alone" These are just two of the many rules for safe caving. Vermont has fascinating caves and two long-time cavers will give a virtual talk on Wednesday, May 12 at 1:30. Presenters Peter Youngbaer and Ken Moore are members of the Vermont Cavers Association, a grotto (chapter) of the National Speleological Society. The NSS is the world' largest organization dedicated to the exploration, scientific study, and protection of caves and their environments, and to the fellowship of cavers. You will see photographs of the various types of Vermont caves as well as the modeling of gear and clothing used to explore caves. "Caves are truly the last wilderness on earth," said Youngbaer, "and we are always happy to share our passion and experiences with audiences." A Q&A from the audience will follow the presentation.
